The company particularly encourages approaches to futures consultancy that take account of the way project outputs will be used by sponsors. In this way it helps organisations avoid spending money on projects that are enjoyable to undertake but fail to generate real long-term business benefit. Future Creation Ltd is directed by Susan Clayton, a futurist and strategic planner with a wealth of experience as a senior manager, consultant, trainer, speaker, writer and researcher. She has been consulted by the Department of Trade and Industry, European Union and Cabinet Office on planning for the future and has clients in business, central government and the public and voluntary sectors in the United Kingdom and overseas. Before setting up Future Creation Ltd Susan was on secondment for two years to the Department of Trade and Industry's influential Future and Innovation Unit, a Regional Director with the Open University, Head of Corporate Planning with the London Borough of Richmond, lecturer on public policy and research methods at Lancaster University and an independent business adviser. She is also an accredited DTI Foresight consultant.
The consultants working with Future Creation are highly specialised in futures, creativity, scenarios development, strategic planning or the topic of particular interest to the client. They have mostly been senior managers in industry or have an academic background.
